1792 Flake is a full-strength, mellow tobacco comprising a blend of dark fired Tanzanian leaf. It is Gawith’s best selling premium grade flake. It starts as 7 lbs. of hand stripped leaf and goes through a steaming process prior to being pressed. The cake, having been prepared, is wrapped in a select leaf and packed by hand into a 12 inch square.

Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake is a legendary, full-bodied pipe tobacco renowned for its strong nicotine hit and deep flavor.
The Blend: A robust mixture of dark-fired leaf and sweet Virginias. It is then pressed and finished with a distinct Tonquin topping, which gives it a floral, slightly spicy, and creamy profile.
The Experience: It burns cool and slow with minimal bite, though it tends to leave some moisture in the bowl.
The Caveats: It arrives very moist and requires significant drying time before packing. The heavy nicotine and unique Tonquin flavoring make this blend a love-it-or-hate-it affair, best suited for veteran smokers after a hearty meal. Be warned: it will “ghost” (persistently flavor) your briar or meerschaum pipes.
