The 2nd in our Mayor’s Collection. Sam’s Flake is a combination of flue cured Virginias and Turkish leaf which after blending is pressed in the hot oven, cut and then treated to a light flavouring which adds another flavour dimension to the tobacco. Good smoke and room aroma with a medium strength.

Samuel Gawith Sam’s Flake is a pressed flake that combines flue-cured Virginias with Orientals, all topped with a signature tonquin bean casing that gives it that classic, unmistakable Lakeland aroma. The flavor is unique and often described as having a salty, almost biscuity note upfront, with a smooth, sweet undertone that reminds some smokers of Best Brown Flake but with extra complexity from the Turkish leaf. Many note it shares similarities with FVF, though Sam’s Flake has a distinctive, slightly floral cocoa-like scent out of the tin and a more pronounced Oriental character. It’s considered a calm, comforting smoke that’s more approachable and less finicky than other Gawith flakes, rubbing out easily and often smokeable right out of the tin with minimal drying, though some still recommend a short dry for the best burn.
